Scorpio: The Scorpion

The constellation of Scorpio is said to be the scorpion sent by the god Gaia to kill the hunter Orion. The pair are said to chase each other for eternity. The eternal pursuit can be seen in the night sky as Scorpio rises in the east only after Orion has disappeared safely over the western horizon.

One interesting feature of the constellation Scorpio is the fact that the sun only spends around 9 days in the sign, this is due to the strange long shape of the constellation. The rest of the period given to Scorpio the Sun is actually in the constellation Ophiuchus, which is the only constellation that the Sun passes through that is not one of the signs of the zodiac.
